Reaching The End

Updated: May 10, 2022

We’ve made it to the end of our work and thank you for staying with us during the process.

AR Team

Our team has made some great strides during the production week. I oversaw the designing of what are info beacons would look like (colors, shapes, etc.). During one of the class visits to the garden, the class voted to keep the design blockier looking. With the design look for the info beacons, I continued making progress by adding the information for the remaining beacons.

I also made sure to rearrange some of the blocks to give each one a more unique look. Our team is continuing to piece the project together, we Have Jesse doing voiceover which is coming out great. I am scanning whatever else we are missing to be able to have a finished project. I have scanned a garlic and strawberry on our last class time and will continue helping the team in whatever form they need it.

AR Team Continued

For my progress with the project, I have been continuing to help search for the few 3D models that we still need as well as helping with designing and separating the AR info beacons in order for them to be more easily implemented. I am also still working on the “squirrel poop” section but it might have to be scaled back due to Hoverlay’s limitations.

I have also done the voice-over recording for the AR info beacons. I initially recorded one line with a few different vocal styles and had my group vote on which one sounded the best for the program. Once the group decided on a vocal style, I then recorded the lines and uploaded them into Box to be implemented later.

I recently was able to reach out to Vlada’s Seeds of Life, a charity that does projects with a focus on education towards gardening and sustainability, very close to what we’re working on with this project. I discovered them through a program that ran at the library I work where they were giving away seeds for Earth Day. After communicating with the head of the charity, she loved the project that we were doing and offered to send us to give out for the symposium and/or showcase.

As a part of that, I have been working on getting stickers with a QR code that links to our website that will go on the seeds. In the next few days, I’m planning on finalizing the sticker design and printing them.

Web Team

Hello again everyone! Welcome to our wrap.

up blogs, my name is Casey Fabre and I will be talking about our game development for the project. As we gear up for the final additions of our mix-and-match title, we have utilized quite a lot of assets. We’ve brought in the AR team’s 3-D scans, brought in backgrounds for our levels, and created a myriad of Photoshop items for our in-game signifiers.

The AR team has done a fantastic job getting detailed scans of fruits and vegetables in the garden, and here are examples of a few of those and how they have transitioned into game assets that fit our overall art style.

Additionally, I collected various lighthearted and vibrant farmlands and nature backgrounds for our levels that also fit our overall vector art/abstract style for the entire title. Making sure the art style was aligned across all of our assets was a priority for both Kit and I.

Finally, we have extra in-game signifiers, a trophy to signify a win state, and X to signify a loose state. Additionally, there is also one of the new pot designs that will be added in our final updates to the unity game.

I appreciate everyone for reading through our blogs and look forward to how you all interact with the entirety of the project, cheers!

-Casey Fabre
